Loma Wasi

After finally making it to the house, we had to stop and ask people for directions as the taxi man didn't know where to go.  We realised that the family we were staying with had less English than we had Spanish. The town was called Tonibamba and we were staying in the only hostel and were the only guests. There was dirt roads in most parts of the town and we only saw one very small shop.

The families appear to live off their own produce and sell their produce in the nearby town. The house was pretty small, a lot of the cooking was done outside on an open fire. We were made a lovely dinner with fresh vegetables from their garden. I helped prepare some veg. A few more games of cards and we had an early night. We decided that we loved the place so much we'd stay two nights, sure what's the rush I only have to travel the continent in 7 weeks. We woke for an 8 o' clock breakfast and headed of with the oldest daughter to the bus stop. We needed to get two buses and a taxi to go to the lagoon. We set off on the four hour hike to only realise there was no trail, after half an hour of walking no nowhere we were back at the start, with the park ranger laughing at us and re-explaining where the trail began.  The hike was hard work as it was at altitude and a lot of uphill, but the views were spectacular.

We got back to the farm, helped feed the pigs and prepared more veg for dinner. The little boy Ali, had become my friend so between sword fights he helped me peel beans called abbacas (I think).

The next morning it was time to head to Quito, but not before checking out the famous Otovalo markets. Of course the girls had me stay three times longer than I wanted too. We got a two hour bus to Quito and had street food for dinner and headed to bed.
