Quito

We got up early Wednesday as we wanted to rent motorbikes to explore Quito. We went to the bank to get money out, grabbed food for lunch. Rachel and Victoria made the packed lunches, while myself and Charlotte went to pick up the bikes. A quick chat with the owner and I'm informed I can't legally drive a bike in Ecuador, but he'll rent me one anyway. A bit unsure but really wanting to go biking we start to sign up. Then we're told that if we get stopped by police it's a 200$ fine and 3 days in prison, maybe it's not such a good idea to rent a bike as police apparently check tourists on bikes regularly. Pretty upset we head back to the hostel to break the bad news to the girls. We had the packed lunches and still wanted to see the equator so we headed out by public transport, 2 buses and 40 cents later we were at the equator.  There was a cool museum and a large tower right in the middle. Got a stamp in my passport and we headed to the second equator.

We got a cool tour and got to taste chocolate and play some gravity games. You had to attempt to balance an egg on a nail. We watched water drain in the north, south and bang in the middle.

A bus and a taxi back to the hostel, the girls headed out for manicures so I had some peace and quiet for an hour. We had dinner and started pre drinking. It was Wednesday night and that meant ladies night in Quito. We met up with Alex and had a great night out in a place called Bungalow. Thursday morning we woke early and were attempting to get a bus at another hostel at 10.  No way we were gonna make it, but it looked like our only way of getting to Cotapaxi, a quick phone call and an understanding Aussie and we were collected from our hostel at 10.30.
